This qualification covers workers who are responsible for developing and evaluating the program. Workers at this level have responsibility for the supervision of other staff and volunteers and in most States it is the highest qualification required at Director or Service Manager level.

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50113 is designed for participants who intend to work as a Director or Supervisor in a Long Day Care Centre, Occasional Care Centre, as an assistant in a Kindergarten or Pre-school, as a Family Day Care Coordinator or as a Child Development Officer.

 

Other occupational titles for the graduates of the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50113 include:

Child Care Worker, Team Leader, Group Leader, Program Leader, Service Manager, Service Director, Special Needs Inclusion Worker, Family Day Career or Service Coordinator.

 

The Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care CHC50113 is available to all students, however advanced standing will be granted to those who already hold Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113

 

This course will require you to complete a total of 240 hours practical work placement. These hours will be on a volunteer basis, unless you are already employed in the child care industry, in which case you are more than welcome to use your current workplace and hours to meet the 240 hour requirement. Please note that a minimum of 120 hours must be spent working with 0-2 year olds, while the remaining 120 hours needs to be spent with 2-6 year olds. All hours must take place in an accredited and recognised education and care environment.

 

The course is available as a traineeship for eligible, employed applicants. This funding is subsidised by the NSW Government.
