After completing the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113 you will have the qualification necessary to be a child care assistant in a pre-school or long day care setting, or work as a family day carer or nanny.
Your role will include planning activities for, and providing care to, children. You will also facilitate children's leisure and play and enable them to achieve their developmental outcomes.
You may work under direct supervision or autonomously, depending in which centre you are based.
At this level, you are also required to work with your local community in the provision of services to ensure that the activities planned for the children meet their individual needs and circumstances.
Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113 is the entry level qualification into the Children's Services industry and allows graduates to gain employment as Child Care Assistants, Family Day Carers, Nannies and Child Care Workers.
Completion of the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care CHC30113 will allow graduates to gain advanced standing onto the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.
This course will require you to complete a total of 240 hours practical work placement. These hours will be on a volunteer basis, unless you are already employed in the child care industry, in which case you are more than welcome to use your current workplace and hours to meet the 240 hour requirement. Please note that a minimum of 120 hours must be spent working with 0-2 year olds, while the remaining 120 hours needs to be spent with 2-6 year olds. All hours must take place in an accredited and recognised education and care environment.
The course is available as a traineeship for eligible, employed applicants. This funding is subsidised by the NSW Government.
